Swift Duplication offer both DVD and CD replication services. This is
generally used on runs above 1000 units and above. At Swift Duplication we will make
this process simple and painless.
DVD Replication.... The Process
There are two main types of replicated DVD, a DVD 5 which holds up to 4.7gb of data and a DVD 9 which holds up to 8.5gb. There are other types but are rarely used these days. A replicated DVD is manufactured in a similar way to a replicated CD, the data is transferred to a glass disc via a laser burning the information on to photosensitive material in the form of pits. A nickel plate is then grown from the glass plate before being put into a injection moulding machine. In the case off a DVD 9 there will be 2 stampers. The data is then pressed into molten polycarbonate to form the shape of the DVD and the data is saved in the form of pits. The main difference between a CD and a DVD is that there are two layers which are half the thickness off a CD these are then bonded together. in the case of a DVD5 the 2nd layer will not have any data on it. The discs are then taken to be printed using either screen or litho printing methods depending on the image and your preference. The discs with then be packaged according to your requirement. This process takes around 10 working days. If you require further information please do hesitate to contact us on the number above or via the contact form.
